INAI asks Cofepris to make information on vaccines transparent to minors

Julieta Del Río, commissioner of the INAI (National Institute of Transparency, Access to Information and Protection of Personal Data), asked Cofepris to provide information on whether it has already authorized the application of the Pfizer vaccine against COVID-19 for children between 5 and 11 years old.
“I decided to publicly expose this review resource because it is important to emphasize again that the COVID-19 pandemic is not over yet, and as long as the population has information about it, they will be able to take their preventive measures and make their strategy; but, above all, to reiterate that Cofepris has been recurrent in omitting responses and responding to requests,” said Commissioner Norma Julieta del Río Venegas.
This, because the INAI detected that Cofepris was ignored when providing the information requested by a citizen.

The commissioner said that it is not the first time that the commission has ignored to respond to requests for information issued by the INAI, “thus denying key information to citizens.”
“There is a systematic pattern in the lack of response to requests, which is a violation of the right of access to information of citizens,” he said.
