Ruling party squares with the Government: they commit to vote in favor of the extension of the State of Emergency in the south

On Monday, a new political committee was held at the La Moneda Palace, at which time the ruling parties communicated their commitment to the Government of President Gabriel Boric, in supporting a new extension of the State of Emergency in the Mapuche conflict zone.
The Executive has already made an extension for 15 days, so now it needs the support of Congress for a new extension of the State of Emergency in the south of the country.

Faced with this scenario, the president of the Socialist Party (PS), Paulina Vodanovic, said on Radio Bio Bío that “we are going to talk to our parliamentarians to support this exceptional measure.”
“The rates of commission of crimes have fallen, so the parties that were present today in the political committee have decided to support this measure,” he added.
Meanwhile, the deputy of Social Convergence (CS), Gael Yeomans, said that “we are going to do the trick and we are talking with our parliamentarians so that this is fulfilled.”
In addition, he added that “the commitment is there and that is what we come to ratify.”

Rejection of the State of Emergency of the RM
On the words indicated by the former Minister of the Interior, Rodrigo Delgado, about implementing a State of Exception in the Metropolitan region, from the ruling party they discarded the idea.
On the statements of the former minister of the government of Sebastián Piñera, the president of the Communist Party (PC), Guillermo Teillier, said that “it is not an option, we must continue to promote the work of the police.”
“Perfecting his work, delivering more elements and strengthening them,” added the helmsman of the PC.
Vodanovic on the subject said that the measure “is quite excessive and not very wise. (…) We have reported on the decisions of the Executive in order to implement measures that guarantee dialogue and exceptional measures.”
