Paraguay: A former director of tacumbú prison was killed today in Asunción

Óscar González Olmedo, 42, had been director of the prison until the end of 2020, when he was dismissed after a drug processing laboratory was found in the complex. The director of the Asunción Police, Daniel Careaga, explained that after being shot González Olmedo was taken to the Trauma Hospital, but he arrived dead. And the director of the hospital, Agustín Saldívar, explained that the former official received five bullet wounds at the height of the face, in the left hand, in the dorsal region and in the back, reported the sites of Última Hora and ABC Color.The crime was in the Barrio Obrero of the Paraguayan capital, when a hitman who arrived on a motorcycle driven by another criminal entered the house through an open gate, he went to the quincho and shot González Olmedo in front of his father. Commissioner Careaga stressed that there are many closed-circuit cameras in the area, which would be reviewed, and explained that it is unknown if González Olmedo had been threatened. In the procedure that led to his dismissal from Tacumbú, in November 2020, the agents found cocaine, crack and marijuana and a large sum of cash.
