Alejandro Moreno wants access to higher caliber weapons

Alejandro Moreno Cárdenas, national leader of the PRI, proposed to modify the Federal Law on Firearms and Explosives so that families in Mexico have access to higher caliber weapons and thus can “defend themselves from crime.”
“So that Mexican families can more easily access weapons of greater caliber so that they can protect their homes, their businesses, their lives. to people who are helpless. They arrive at homes, businesses and murder women, men, who cannot defend themselves, because there is no control and registration so that they can have that disposition,” said the PRI member.

If the government cannot guarantee the safety of citizens, let families who wish to do so have the option of arming themselves to protect their lives and those of their children. It’s time for criminals to know that people are going to defend themselves. #EstadoFallido pic.twitter.com/hMWuxA62d5

The PRI leader assured that he will also raise the possibility that the military and elements of the National Guard can take their weapons home and even if they are free they can use them if necessary.
“I say this with a lot of responsibility but above all because you can no longer live what this country is experiencing, this country falls apart in insecurity, there is no economic growth (…) that is why we will present a law so that from a certain degree, the members of the Armed Forces, the National Guard, the Army, the Air Force, the Navy can take their weapons from their homes and when they are frank, they can defend themselves and face organized crime, “he said.
The PRI leader acknowledged that his proposal will generate controversy, but that it is a debate that has to take place to end the security problem in the country.

The proposal of “Alito” is raised after a shooting was recorded in Puebla in a vaccination center for children, where, according to the authorities, two minors were injured.
Weapons in Mexico
Currently, article 10 of the Constitution establishes that “the inhabitants of the United Mexican States have the right to possess weapons at home, for their security and legitimate defense, with the exception of those prohibited by Federal Law and those reserved for the exclusive use of the permanent Armed Forces and reserve corps. Federal law shall determine the cases, conditions, requirements and places in which the inhabitants may be authorized to bear arms.”
However, in order to have access to one, you must follow the guidelines established by the Federal Law on Firearms and Explosives, among which the processing of a license is established, demonstrate that you live honestly, detail why you need a weapon and prove that you do not consume any type of drug.
The only body that issues weapons licenses is the National Secretariat of Defense.
