The Inter-American Court requested a report from the Argentine State on the situation of Milagro Sala

The Inter-American Court of Human Rights (Inter-American Court of Human Rights) requested a report from the Argentine State on the current situation of the social leader of the Tupac Amaru group, Milagro Sala, who remains hospitalized in Jujuy for a picture of venous thrombosis. The judicial body gave until July 13 to submit the observations. Through a statement, the Secretariat of Human Rights of the Nation recalled today that the Inter-American Court requested the report as a result of the internment that the leader is going through and “the growing harassment by the provincial authorities.”

On November 23, 2017, the Inter-American Court considered that Sala was being held in conditions incompatible with her human dignity and that the execution of the custodial measure was subjecting her to anguish or difficulties greater than the suffering intrinsic to any detention, and issued a provisional measure in that regard. Within the framework of that resolution, the Inter-American Court gave the Argentine State “a period of time until July 13, 2022, to refer the observations to the information sent by the representatives, in relation to the current situation of the beneficiary,” according to the international court in the brief. For this reason, the Argentine Human Rights Secretariat again pointed out that “the political and judicial authorities of Jujuy have the obligation to comply with the provisional measure that benefited Milagro Sala while its non-compliance compromises the international responsibility of the Argentine State.”
