The Condors accomplish a feat and qualify for the first time to a Rugby World Cup

Historical. Unpublished. This is how they describe what the Condors achieved this Saturday in Denver, where Chile turned the repechage series around and achieved qualification for the first time in its history to a Rugby World Cup after beating the United States 31-29 in the World Cup repechage.
The match started uphill for Pablo Lemoine’s 15th, as the home side came out to impose their game and quickly took a 19-0 lead before 30 minutes. However, our cast reacted and took advantage of Nick Civetta’s yellow card to close the gap thanks to the tries of Marcelo Torrealba and Matías Garafulic and the conversion of Santiago Videla.

In the second half the match was exciting and dominated by Los Cóndores. While the locals managed to convert a try through Joe Taufete’e at 47′, Chile reacted quickly and Santiago Videla scored a beautiful try after great play by Rodrigo Fernández and his subsequent conversion.
But the excitement was in the final 15 minutes. Matías Dittus with all his strength and claw surprised by converting a try and then Videla added two more points to leave the score 28-29. And in the 75th minute, the excitement came with the penalty converted by Vidal that allowed Los Cóndores to pass up on the scoreboard and win the key, since Chile was left with the triumph by 31-29.
The last minutes were nervous, but after a penalty and possession of the oval, the Condors won the match and achieved a historic qualification to the World Cup.

Once the meeting was over, the emotion did not wait and one of the figures of the meeting, Santiago Videla said that “I do not know what to say, there are many emotions and moments, we knew that all that we had to put together for these 80 minutes, we had to put all the heart that we had been cultivating these last three years, thanks to all the people. I’m in shock.”
“I think about embracing my 30 brothers who came, the other 15 who stayed in Santiago,” he added.
For his part, the head coach, Pablo Lemoine could not hold back the tears and very excited expressed that “we did everything possible, it’s all about the boys. It is something magical, to thank ‘Lulo’, the staff who are first class and enjoy. We’re going to France, the guys deserve it and nothing more to thank.”
