In June, 2 million people looked for work without being able to get

In total, 57.4 million people were employed during June, that is, 2.3 million more than the same month of 2021, reported the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).
Despite the increase in the number of employed people, 2 million Mexicans were among the unemployed population because they could not integrate into the labor market, despite their search; which also represents an annual reduction of 319 thousand people.
The occupation of men was 34.4 million, 812 thousand more people compared to the sixth month of 2021. The occupation of women was 23 million, 1.5 million more than in the same period of comparison, according to the National Survey of Occupation and Employment.

By economic sectors, most of the places created during June were shown: in services 24.7 million people were concentrated (43% of the total), in trade 11.1 million (19.3%), in the manufacturing industry, 9.5 million (16.5%).

Meanwhile, in agricultural activities 6.8 million (11.8%); in construction, 4.7 million (8.1%); in “other economic activities” (including mining, electricity, water and gas supply), 386 thousand (0.7%); and 337 thousand people (0.6%) did not specify their activity.
Compared to the same month of 2021, the sector with the greatest increase in its employed population was commerce, with 737 thousand people, followed by various services, construction, manufacturing industries and restaurants and accommodation services.
The population employed in labor informality was 32.1 million people.
No job, but in search
The Inegi detailed that 14.4% of the unemployed did not have completed secondary education, while those with a higher level of education represented 85.5%.
By age range, the group of 25 to 44 years concentrated 44.9% of the unemployed population, 1.1 percentage points less than the same month of the previous year.
By duration of unemployment, in June 2022, 18.4% of unemployed people sought a job for more than three months, 29.5% were unemployed for more than a month and up to three months, and 45.1% sought employment for up to one month.
