President Boric will talk with the youth in III Future Youth Congress

“Starring in the present” is the motto of the III Future Youth Congress, a free meeting to be held on August 5 and will be attended by the President of the Republic, Gabriel Boric, who will also talk with young nationals about the “Common Future”.
This was announced by the Challenges of the Future Commission, chaired by Senator Francisco Chahuán and composed of Senators Ximena Rincón and Ximena Órdenes; and legislators Kenneth Pugh and Luciano Cruz-Coke; and the Encuentros del Futuro Foundation (FEF), led by its executive vice president, Guido Girardi.
This meeting of the youth, to which the president of the Senate, Álvaro Elizalde, is also invited and which has the participation of more than 25 non-governmental organizations, will be attended by more than 10 national and foreign leaders who, in the format of exhibitions, seek to promote the participation and incidence of their peers in public policies, based on scientific evidence, with a view to the future.
Youth Leadership
The president of the Challenges of the Future Commission, Senator Francisco Chahuán, said that this meeting “seeks to bring together those youth leaders, who through science, technology, innovation and information provide visions of the Chile we want to build. The only way to unite our country is on the basis of a collective project and that is built by inviting young people to be protagonists.”
“We are going to count in an unprecedented way with the assistance of the President of the Republic, Gabriel Boric, who will be part of a conversation panel,” he added.
The space in which the President will participate is called “Common Future” and will share the stage with Belén Guede, digital activist and Joaquín Salinas, socio-environmental activist.
For Senator Ximena Órdenes, a member of the legislative body, “the current state of a society is reflected in the composition and role played by its youth. Therefore, the work we have developed as a commission, through events such as Congreso Futuro, allows us to have the particularity of thinking about the Chile of tomorrow today.”
Senator Rincon indicated that “this is not only an invitation to dream, but to develop alliances and strategies for what is coming to us (…) When you look at the profiles of the participants … you realize that they are at the forefront, talking about global issues and initiatives that they have created with their own networks.”
Senator Pugh noted that “in these young people is not only the future but also our present. Today the future is digital and that is why we need all these young people to be activated in the networks and in the scientific (…) We need more women in digital technology.”
For his part, the executive vice president of the FEF Girardi indicated that “in this III Future Youth Congress, the leaders, the intellectuals, who will speak and invite reflection, to generate thought, are young people – men and women of this country – who will take on the challenge precisely of dialogue and conversation about borders and how to build a better world.”
After the panel in which the President of the Republic, Gabriel Boric, will participate, there will be a Keynote Talk on cyberactivism and youth representation by Valentina Muñoz, a digital programmer and who became the first Latin American woman designated as an advocate for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.
