Minister Siches announces changes in entry requirements to carabineros and presents members of commission for police reform

The Minister of the Interior, Izkia Siches, announced on Thursday changes in the requirements to enter the Carabineros and presented the members of the commission and the advisory unit for the Reform (UCR) of the police.
“I want to announce that we will modify the restrictions that currently exist to enter the Carabineros de Chile. Today people with cavities, with flat feet or who measure less than required can not be admitted by Carabineros de Chile, nor can people who have tattoos, even if these are not visible. That’s going to change,” Siches said from La Moneda.
“These exclusion criteria will no longer be applied in the admission process of Carabineros de Chile schools for this 2023, through these changes we will be able to increase the acceptance of applicants in a selection process, but also that our police are a mirror of what is a diverse society and that also has modifications and does not pretend to be absolutely homogeneous, ” added the head of Interior.
In that line, he commented that “a few days ago we saw in the media how a young woman could not access the Carabineros School for only a few centimeters in height. With the changes we will make and from 2023, Javiera will be able to be part of it and, obviously, be a public servant as appropriate.”
