Rio Negro: A trans woman was shot dead

According to judicial sources, a trans woman was killed by at least one shot and two other people were injured when they were shot and stabbed in a building in the city of General Roca, Río Negro. The incident occurred last Friday, at approximately 9:30 p.m., when a man began to argue with his partner, with whom he has a six-year-old son. In that context, the woman was attacked with a knife, after which the aggressor escaped. According to the sources, during the escape, the attacker crossed paths with two trans women, who had left when they heard the argument. Upon seeing them, the assailant shot both of them and one of them died of at least one bullet. As for the other two victims, they were referred to the hospital in the area where they are hospitalized although out of danger. After the attack, investigators identified a suspect and the prosecutor on duty, Ricardo Romero, ordered the capture of the man who until this afternoon had not been located. In addition, he is being investigated for whether the cause of his attack on both trans women was in a context of hatred of their sexual dissent. Finally, the prosecutor is still awaiting the results of the autopsy to determine how many gunshot wounds the victim had. On the other hand, the Association of Trans and Sexual Workers for Sexual Dissidence of Cipolletti-Neuquén expressed its concern about the “brutal hate crime” of Vera and reported that her remains were veiled this afternoon in the wake room of the Municipal Cemetery of General Roca.
