Neighbors of La Pintana inaugurate sustainable square through the revaluation of PET

With a new green area with benches and shading made of recycled material have the residents of La Pintana after the inauguration of the “Plaza Villa Los Eucaliptus”, a new sustainable space that will allow them to have a space for recreation to families in the sector.
The initiative is part of the “Refresh your Neighborhood” program, of Cachantun mineral water together with Fundación Mi Parque that was born in 2019 and in which to date they have built 9 squares throughout the country, designed collaboratively with the communities and built from the revaluation of PET.
“These new squares are transformed into a space for recreation, sports, recreation and better quality of life in their day to day, delivering well-being for all those who make up each community,” said Evelyn Peña, deputy manager of Marketing Waters of CCU.
Meanwhile, Elizabeth Lopez, president of the neighborhood council of Villa Los Eucaliptus, said that “we feel wonderfully satisfied and grateful for what we have achieved. Thanks to the entities and people who helped achieve our goal and who make these dreams possible, to recover spaces giving life and dignity to the populations thinking of all those involved mainly in our children, we are happy with the project”.
How are the squares built?
The entities execute the construction of squares and develop collaboratively with the neighbors the design. Thanks to the challenge of recycling plastic bottles -through ReciclApp-, PET is given a new use by being transformed into ecomaderas, shaping benches and shaders used in the squares.
This ecowood is made by the Revalora Chile Foundation, which, using recycled plastics, manufactures furniture for squares, games and coatings, among others, with a useful life of 100 years.

The squares Los Murales de Talca, Los Sueños de Puerto Montt, Gabriela Mistral de Chañaral, Justo Estay in Los Andes, Santa Mónica in Recoleta, Santa Elvira in Cerro Navia, Pargua in Renca, Plaza para el Encuentro in San Bernardo have already been built thanks to this program.

The Plaza Villa Los Eucaliptus in La Pintana has already been added and will soon be joined by Plaza Villa Esperanza in Maipú and Plaza Llosyas in Arica, which will be built this 2022.
