Fires in the Delta: “Cabandié should talk less and work more”

Gustavo Bordet, governor of Entre Ríos, today took aim at the Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development, Juan Cabandié, for the fires in the Paraná Delta, warning him that “he should talk less and work more.” After Cabandié asked the province to arbitrate the means for the prevention of “new intentional igneous foci,” the governor responded on Twitter: “The Minister of Environment should talk less and work more. In addition to not knowing at all the reality of the Delta, he has spent all this time evading responsibilities and distributing blame that does not contribute to finding solutions.”

“With the coordination of the provinces and the Nation, firefighters, police, rescuers and armed forces work against the clock to prevent and quell fires in very complex conditions. It would be very important to have a minister who rises to the occasion,” Bordet said. On Sunday, Cabandié tweeted: “We ask the province of Entre Ríos to arbitrate the means to prevent new intentional igneous outbreaks. Today, the SNMF detected a new intentional igneous focus in Entre Ríos. After three hours of work, with 13 brigadistas we managed to control it.” The Ministry announced on Monday that the National Fire Management Service (SNMF) eliminated the new fire outbreaks in Santa Fe, as well as in the towns of Gualeguay and Diamante and the Buenos Aires towns of Baradero, Campana and Zárate.
