Minister of Women for de la Carrera’s statements about Siches and aggression against Sepúlveda: “It is an exercise in pure machismo”

“It’s pure machismo.” This is how the Minister of Women, Antonia Orellana, described the statements of Deputy Gonzalo de la Carrera against the Minister of the Interior, Izkia Siches, in the framework of a special session on the presence of drug cartels in the country, and the subsequent aggression against the Vice President of the Lower House, Alexis Sepúlveda (Radical Party).
“Gonzalo de la Carrera is not a disease. It is an exercise in pure machismo and is not the first expression. My sisterhood and affection to Minister Izkia Siches in the face of repeated attitude and to congressmen Marcela Riquelme and Alexis Sepúlveda for their courage,” wrote the Minister of Women, Antonia Orellana, on her Twitter account.

De la Carrera said in the session: “just tell the Minister of the Interior, that some have called for her resignation. I want to gently dismiss her from her position, because I know that after Sunday’s result, we will not see her again as a minister, perhaps as an ambassador.”
Minister Siches replied: “I will try to omit the last lack of respect of the deputy who intervened.”
Subsequently, Deputy Riquelme asked for a “point of regulation” for De la Carrera’s statements. “I approached the Bureau and asked Alexis Sepúlveda and Claudia Mix how many times you can call a deputy to order before moving on to other types of sanctions and the answer they gave me is that it was for each session,” Riquelme said.
“Deputy De la Carrera crosses us and says to Deputy Soto: ‘there are stupid women who are late and who come to attract attention’, referring to me obviously and I said ‘hey what’s wrong with you, why are you treating me stupidly’,” the deputy continued in her account.
“Deputy Alexis Sepúlveda tells De la Carrera ‘why so violent’, and at that moment Deputy De la Carrera punches him in the face, in the eye, he kicked him. Nobody expected that, nobody could foresee such a situation,” he added.

Given the facts, the deputies of the Republican Party expelled De la Carrera from his bench.
