AMLO announces the restart of the work

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced on his Twitter account that work on the Mayan Train has resumed.
“With absolute adherence to the legality, patience and support of the people, we restarted the work of the Cancun-Tulum section. The amparos did not proceed in the legal, environmental or social spheres. There will be a Mayan Train,” the president tweeted.

The path of the Mayan Train
On August 9, a federal judge denied the final suspension against the construction of Section 5 of the Mayan Train, which runs from Playa del Carmen to Tulum, Quintana Roo. That resolution brought together six denied suspensions.
Javier May, head of the National Fund for the Promotion of Tourism (Fonatur), reported that Section 5 South has already been completely released and amparo 1137/2022 was null and void to stop one of the flagship works of the government of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
According to the official, the resolution indicates that it is not demonstrated how the work would cause irreparable damage to the environment in Section 5 South.

Activists and experts from the #SélvameDelTren collective have asked President Andrés Manuel López Obrador to tour the area in which section 5 of the Mayan Train is being built, change the layout of the work and avoid a disaster in that natural area.
“4 months ago we respectfully asked you to tour the area of section 5, to know the natural wonders that are underground and testify to the grievance towards the jungle,” they requested a month ago.

MACHINES OF THE @TrenMayaMX ABOUT TO COLLAPSE ON CENOTE (and on us😨). Faced with the vibration of the cave, we had to run away. Today September 3 at Cenote Guardianes, Playa del Carmen, Q.Roo. THIS IS SECTION 5 South boundary with Section 5 North! 🧵 1/of many. pic.twitter.com/W2fLxXn0ib
