Mexico closed the week on Sunday with 815 new cases of COVID-19 and three people killed, figures that reflect the downward trend in the current wave of infections.
According to the most recent technical report of the federal Ministry of Health, with this the number of accumulated cases stood at 7 million 059 thousand 348.
Meanwhile, the number of people killed by the pandemic stood at 329,761.

After two and a half years since the first case of COVID-19 was detected in the country – on February 28, 2020 – Mexico has gone through five waves of infections.
The current wave is still underway, although federal health officials say it is already more than a month down.
The Undersecretary of Prevention and Health Promotion, Hugo López-Gatell, said in August that it is possible that there will be an uptick in infections in the months of October, November and December, that is, when the cold season begins.

Next Tuesday, López-Gatell is expected to give a new report on the situation of the pandemic in the country. 
The official has also predicted that COVID-19 will soon become an endemic disease linked to cold weather.
Meanwhile, the World Health Organization (WHO) remains alert for the pandemic. This and other agencies, organizations and experts urge governments and individuals not to abandon measures to prevent contagion, such as the use of face masks.
