The mayor of San Miguel, Erika Martínez, reported through her Twitter account, the death of the former mayor of the commune and militant of the Socialist Party (PS), Julio Palestro, at the age of 68.
“From this space I send my condolences to his family and close ones,” said the highest communal authority and militant of Social Convergence.
“Know that you are in the prayers and thoughts of our neighbors in these difficult times,” the mayor added.
The vice president of the PS, Arturo Barrios, confirmed the news in his networks. “Still not understanding what has happened, we are all dismayed, you finally decided to leave. A big hug and a thousand thanks for everything dear Julio Palestro, you are and will be remembered as a great,” Barrios wrote.
After returning from exile Julio Palestro rejoined the Socialist Party of San Miguel, being its communal president, he was also political manager of the commune, vice president of the collectivity of the Metropolitan Region, member between 2006 and 2008 of the political commission of the PS and between 2008 and 2010, member of the Central Committee.
