Sully Ponce, former prosecutor for the murder of women, murdered in Ciudad Juárez

The former prosecutor of homicides against women, Sully Ponce Prieto, was killed by gunshots Thursday night while traveling in a vehicle, in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua.
The attack was recorded at the intersection of Paseo Triunfo de la República and Avenida del Charro.
The former prosecutor, reports Reforma, was accompanied by a man who, according to the first investigations, had just been released from the facilities of the Attorney General’s Office, and the former official had picked him up.

A man was also killed in the attack; however, the media points out, it has not been disclosed if he was the one who was traveling with her in the car or one of the escorts.
He adds that a few blocks from the place of the aggression a van with weapons was located, which was secured.
The prosecutor of the North Zone, Jesús Manuel Carrasco, reported that it will be the specialized prosecutor’s office of the woman who will take charge of the investigation of the murder of ponce Prieto

He pointed out that the motive for the aggression has not yet been established and that the same prosecutor’s office will take charge of the investigations.
According to El Heraldo de Juárez, Sully Ponce Prieto was known in Ciudad Juárez for the work she performed as a special prosecutor in the then State Attorney General’s Office (PGJE) at the time when the municipality was seen by the eyes of the world, due to “Las Muertas de Juárez”.
In 1998 she was appointed special prosecutor by Attorney General Arturo González Rascón.
In 2005, Ponce Prieto was included in the list of negligent officials and former officials released by former federal prosecutor María López Urbina, sent by the federal government to “investigate” the Ciudad Juárez case.
