France loses N’Golo Kanté for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar

Reigning world champions France will have a significant loss at Qatar 2022, as it became known today that midfielder N’Golo Kanté will not arrive in time to recover from a hamstring injury. The Chelsea player will have to spend three months in rehabilitation according to tests he underwent on Friday in London after he suffered in the affected area during a training session last week, the French newspaper L’Equipe reported. Kanté, 31, world champion in Russia 2018, played just 174 minutes in two games since the start of the new season of European football, in the middle of the year. The last time the player added minutes was on August 14 during the 2-2 draw between Chelsea and Tottenham for the Premier League. On that occasion, he was replaced a few minutes from the end by Conor Gallagher and since then he could not reappear. The absence of Kanté is a blow for the French national team, which at the beginning of September saw the chance of having another world champion like Paul Pogba, operated on the menisci of his right knee, practically vanish.
