Racing beat Lanús and climbed to the top of the Professional League

Racing Club reached the top of the Professional League championship by narrowly beating Lanús, as a visitor, by 1-0, in a match corresponding to the penultimate date of the contest. Contrary to what was expected it was Lanús, last in the annual table and penultimate in the championship, who took the initiative from the beginning of the match, since he generated more dangerous actions and knew how to contain the approaches of the “Academy”, which did not have concrete chances during the first half.

In the second half, there was a frictional game in the middle of the court, reason that led to the lack of arrivals by both teams. With this panorama, the cast commanded by Fernando Gago equaled in points to Boca, but with three to play against six of those led by Hugo Ibarra. However, at 35 minutes, Racing got in such a long-awaited goal. The midfielder Matías Rojas put a filtered pass for Enzo Copetti, who takes off from his mark and first, almost without angle, unsheathed a low rejection to the first stick that left the goalkeeper of the local cast without options. With this victory, the “Academy” leads by two points to Boca Juniors, although the Xeneize must play next Thursday against Gimnasia y Esgrima the 81 minutes pending the ill-fated match of the date 23 that was tied without goals. An equality in that comparison will leave the way open to the title to Racing, something that would achieve if it wins on the final day to River Plate at home, since even beating Independiente, in the Bombonera, those of the Ribera could not reach it.
