Inauguration of a genomic diagnostic center in Argentina

Dasa Genómica, the genomic medicine area of Dasa, the largest diagnostic medicine network in Latin America, continues to grow in the region and inaugurates a laboratory and patient care unit specialized in genomic diagnosis in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The opening to the public took place on Tuesday, October 18. This new care center, located in Marcelo T. de Alvear 1978, occupies an elegant period house of more than 500 m² that offers comfortable spaces and specialized attention, connecting technology and innovation in a spacious and modern environment. With three floors, the unit has administrative offices and an area of more than 140m² for sample extraction and analysis, and another technical area for the processing of tests.” We offer a comprehensive service where the patient can search for our reference unit for sampling. It also has geneticists who perform pre- and post-test genetic counseling who can contribute to laboratories and doctors from other specialties to indicate the best genetic test for each patient,” explains the medical director of Dasa Diagnósticos LATAM, Roberto Caldeira Cury.

Dasa Genómica offers robust logistics, with more than 980 service units in Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Chile and Colombia, as well as Operational Technical Centers in Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay. It has constant action in the other countries of the continent, promoting a new era of avant-garde medicine with a focus on people. It also seeks to transmit knowledge to society and promotes medical education.” We arrived in Latin America with our own structure, not through a local distributor, which means that we are not just another player, but we are at the forefront. In this sense, Dasa Genómica encourages the exchange of specialists to contribute their knowledge and local experience, and we seek to generate a clinical integration network that offers added value to Argentina, as well as to the other regions in which Dasa Genómica is already operational, “says the director of genomics and clinical research of Dasa LATAM, Gustavo Riedel. In Buenos Aires, Dasa Genómica also offers the service of sampling at home and in the laboratories Diagnostico Maipú and LabMedicina, which also belong to Dasa. In the interior of the country, a network of laboratories collects the samples that are removed by the Dasa Genomics team.Extensive portfolio of genetic and genomic tests
Dasa Genomics has a broad portfolio of more than 800 genetic and genomic tests, offering the highest diagnostic accuracy for six areas:
Oncology
Cardiology
Rare Diseases and Neurology
Human Reproduction and Fetal Medicine
Pharmacogenomics
Ophthalmology (coming soon)

They also offer:
NIPT: is a non-invasive prenatal test that analyzes the DNA of the fetus that circulates in the blood of the pregnant woman, in which the probability that the baby has genetic alterations such as Down syndrome, Edwards, Patau, Klinefelter, Triple x, Jacob, Triplodía, among others, is evaluated. In turn, it determines the sex of the baby.
PharmOne: allows the doctor to prescribe the most personalized antidepressant for each patient, increasing the chances of success by evaluating DNA changes and drug interactions capable of interfering with the response to medications.
NGS panels: identifies variants in the genes analyzed. These tests are ordered for hereditary cancers such as breast, ovarian, prostate and pancreatic cancers, as well as neurological and neurodevelopmental diseases, for example.
PGT-A: genetic testing to identify alterations in the number of cell chromosomes (aneuploidies) in the embryo; It is recommended for women over 35 years of age, considering that the probability of aneuploidies increases with maternal age.
Whole Exome Sequencing: analyzes the coding regions of the human genome to identify variants that may be related to diseases of genetic origin.
Array-CGH: detects gains or losses of genetic material that may be associated with chromosomal and microdeletion/microduplication syndromes.

In 2023, three innovative exams will be available in Argentina:
BabyGenes: Neonatal screening genetic test that analyzes 390 genes and identifies more than 400 genetic diseases that have been treated.
Vaginal microbiome: uses precision medicine to better understand how the patient’s microbiota is doing, and thus provide personalized information that will help the doctor choose the best interventions.
Endometrial receptivity test: analyzes the exact moment when the endometrium is ready to receive the embrión, increasing the chances of success in in vitro fertilization.

The patient can count on the interpretation of the tests carried out in an integrated way by professionals specialized in each of the areas, allowing to obtain broader information of the results at the time of their realization. ” Genomics allows, through DNA analysis, to predict diseases, anticipate diagnoses and guide specialists towards more assertive treatments. We hope to contribute to an increasingly predictive, preventive and personalized medicine in Argentina”, continues the director. Growth in Argentina
Since the acquisition of Genia, in 2019, Dasa Genómica had a growth of 194% in its production in Argentina. In this year, Dasa Genómica Argentina doubled the staff with the structuring of the commercial, marketing and patient care team.” Currently in Argentina we are processing hundreds of samples per month and we expect that by 2023 these figures will evolve 20%. In Latin America, we expect to grow at least 30% per year,” says Riedel.Dasa Genómica is investing more than 41 million dollars in the region, including the opening of care units, acquisitions and expansion in the markets of Argentina, Uruguay, Chile and Colombia. “Genomics is the medicine of the future that is already present. That is why it is one of Dasa’s areas of great investment”, concludes Caldeira Cury.
