Deputy Andrés Celis (RN) officiates to the SII to investigate financing of Team Patriota

Deputy Andrés Celis (RN) officiated to the national director of the Internal Revenue Service (SII), Hernán Frigolett, reporting a series of background on the financing of Team Patriota, led by Francisco Muñoz -better known as Pancho Malo, former leader of the White Claw-. The legislator requested that a possible evasion or breaches in the Donations Law be investigated.
According to the parliamentarian in the letter, the group would be supported by digital platforms, where it would capture donations that would be directed to a bank account. The above, “obviously does not comply with tax obligations in matters of donations and facilitates evasion because it is not transparent if the recipient has the legal formalities,” he explained.

The same account used to finance Team Patriota, would also have been used to pay for the legal defense of the leader of the organization, Pancho Malo. That would allow to presume that the amounts could be integrated into the personal patrimony of Francisco Muñoz, which according to the Law, would make the payment of taxes enforceable.
“Everything indicates that we would be facing a donation that is subject to the obligation to declare and pay the corresponding tax, after insinuation. However, and despite the proximity to political-electoral causes, it is clear that these are not donations subject to the electoral statute. In fact, at the date of this presentation the donation portal is in force, but not the special donation regime established by Law No. 19,884, “says the office.
“I asked the Internal Revenue Service to supervise compliance with tax regulations and to summon Francisco Muñoz to testify if necessary, in order to fully clarify the facts. If the transgression is verified, I hope that the procedures will be initiated to apply the corresponding sanctions,” said Deputy Andrés Celis.
“In addition, the self-styled Team Patriota could have failed to pay the tax rate on donations and other electoral procedures,” he said.
“If there is a malicious act aimed at evading taxes, the members of the group could be persecuted and sanctioned according to the Tax Code. This would require the complaint or complaint of the Internal Revenue Service, who I trust will act quickly and firmly,” Celis argued.

Let us remember that Team Patriota has carried out funas against different parliamentarians -especially from Chile Vamos- who have expressed their intention to continue with the constituent process.
The group’s leader, Pancho Malo, was convicted of murder in 2000 and imprisoned for six months.
