Route, schedules and cities where it will be held

This Sunday will be the march in defense of the National Electoral Institute (INE), which will take place in Mexico City and will be replicated in other states of the country.
The demonstration is promoted by civil organizations, businessmen, activists and some opposition parties that reject the electoral reform of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, as they consider it harmful to the INE.
The only speaker at the event will be José Woldenberg, the first president of the INE, formerly the Federal Electoral Institute (IFE), and whom López Obrador has called Lorenzo Córdova’s “political master.”

AMLO criticizes the march in favor of the INE
In recent days, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has criticized the march under the argument that it is not called by democrats, but by people who are against his government and who are “classist” and “racist.”
However, this Friday he said that they will be given all the facilities to carry out and celebrate the demonstration, because he said that in the country the right to dissent is respected and with it the simulation is combated.

In his electoral reform initiative, President López Obrador proposes to change the INE for a new institute called INEC, and reduce from 11 to 7 the electoral councilors, so that they are also chosen by the people from among the forms proposed by Congress, the Executive and the Supreme Court.
On this point specialists have warned of the risk that the new institute is subject to the ruling party, because the aspiring counselors would have to campaign and could resort to partisan support, in addition to the fact that the president and the majority of Morena in Congress would intervene in the lists of aspiring counselors.
