The Faculty of Philosophy and Letters approved the creation of a childcare space

The Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) unanimously approved in the Board of Directors a resolution to implement a nursery with the aim of facilitating the presence and participation of mothers and fathers with children in charge in academic activities, it was officially reported today. The space will be in charge of the Undersecretariat of Gender and Diversity Policies of the faculty, which contemplates the design, implementation and evaluation of a care device by specialized personnel at the Puan headquarters.The project is part of the realization of the “VII National Conference and V Latin American and Researching Conference in Education Training”, the “X Conference on Research in Social Anthropology ‘Santiago Wallace'” and the “IV National Conference on Philosophy of the Department of Philosophy”. In this way, the creation of the space will aim to facilitate the presence and participation of mothers and fathers with children in charge in academic activities. The initiative, as reported by the headquarters of Puan in a statement: “collaborates in the reconciliation between care tasks and professionals, valuing care with a rights-based approach for both those who care and those who require care, and ponders the co-responsibility in the management of these tasks. ” In addition, this proposal is part of the recent creation of the Undersecretariat of Gender and Diversity Policies of Filo, and in a broader debate on the bill that proposes the creation of the Integral System of Care Policies (“Care in equality”). In that sense, they stressed that this law promotes the social organization of care “with a gender perspective and in terms of equal rights for those who care and are citizens.” In parallel, other faculties have care spaces in their facilities, such as the kindergarten of the Faculty of Law of the UBA, which receives daughters and sons of faculty employees, teachers and students, they said through their website. Finally, the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation also launched a line of economic support for participants of scientific meetings who carry out research and development activities and fulfill care tasks.
