Fair Prices: Massa closed the agreement for the entry of fuels into the program

The Minister of Economy of the Nation, Sergio Massa, closed this afternoon an agreement with the oil companies for the entry of fuels to the Fair Prices program, with a maximum increase of 4% for the next quarter. Tomorrow will be the official announcement, but an official spokesman told Telam today that “companies may not increase more than 4% per month in the first three months and present an agreement that has a fourth month with a cap at 3.5%.” Fair Prices, the program that seeks to “achieve price stability of essential products”, was launched 15 days ago, and the application for mobile phones that allows you to verify its compliance already has more than 100,000 downloads.
About the reason for this measure, official spokesmen indicated that it is “to have a sustainable and predictable price policy over time, which allows to give order to both consumers and producers and also ensures supply.” With the addition of the oil companies to the program, the government seeks to shorten the price gap that occurred in recent years. From the end of 2021 to October of the current year, the accumulated price adjustment in gasoline was 44% and that of diesel 60%.
