Pretrial detention given to couple arrested for murder of Rosa Isela in Veracruz

Gonzalo “N” and Verónica “N” were charged with the murder of Rosa Isela Castro Vázquez, a young pregnant woman who was reported missing in Veracruz; Authorities investigate femicide and forced disappearance.
The Attorney General’s Office of Veracruz reported that charges were made against the couple as alleged perpetrators of the crime of disappearance committed by individuals aggravated by their pregnancy condition.
The couple was also attributed the crime committed against a newborn for the omission of delivering Rosa Isela’s baby to the authority or her relatives.

For this reason, a judge ordered as a precautionary measure informal preventive detention for the duration of the criminal proceedings.
In a statement, the agency reported that the Special Prosecutor’s Office for the Investigation of Crimes of Violence Against the Family, Women, Children and Human Trafficking continues with the investigation for probable femicide.
On Monday, the prosecutor of Veracruz, Verónica Hernández, reported that Rosa Iela’s baby is safe and sound, and that she was kept hospitalized while she can be delivered to her father.

Case of Rosa Isela
The young Rosa Isela was reported missing on November 30, after she left her home to pick up clothes from a person who offered them to her on social networks.
The body of the young woman was found at the Los Arrieros ranch, in the town of Rancho del Padre, in the municipality of Medellín de Bravo; She didn’t have her baby anymore.
Authorities arrested two people identified as Verónica “N” and Gonzalo “N” on December 4 for allegedly being related to the kidnapping and femicide of the young woman.
At the time of their arrest they had a baby girl.
From January to October 2022, 62 femicides have been registered in Veracruz, according to figures from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System.
