“The Crimes of the Academy”: Christian Bale in a thriller that brings Edgar Allan Poe to Netflix

Christian Bale faces his next project on screen. “The Pale Blue Eye” (“The Pale Blue Eye”, in its original English), is a thriller with a particularity: it brings from fiction the remarkable author of American terror, Edgar Allan Poe, in this adaptation of Louis Bayard’s novel for Netflix. He will play a detective named Augustus Landor, in charge of solving a series of crimes committed at West Point Military Academy in New York. Mission for which he must have the help of the writer, played by Harry Milling (who we saw recently in “The Devil at All Hours”, for the platform). With references to his tales such as the raven among the most recognizable- Netflix, launched in the last hours the advance, which also reveals the performances of a starring cast composed of Gillian Anderson (“The Crown” season 4), Toby Jones (in charge of playing Dobby in the Harry Potter franchise) and Robert Duvall (“The Godfather”). Set temporarily in 1830, “The Crimes of the Academy” alludes to one of the author’s classic titles (“The Crimes of the Rue Morgue”). It premieres on January 6, 2023 on the Netflix platform.
