Driver who ran over salesman Jorge Claudio arrested

Authorities of the State of Mexico reapprehended Ken Omar “N”, a driver who ran over and killed Jorge Claudio Mendoza, a tamale seller, on December 24 in Cuautitlán Izcalli.
This, four days after being released because the crime charged did not merit unofficial preventive detention.
On December 27, the Prosecutor’s Office of the State of Mexico reported that after reviewing the video recording of the moment in which the events occurred, as well as the taking of his statement, it was determined that the crime is culpable homicide.

The decision prompted family and friends of Jorge Claudio Mendoza to block the Mexico-Queretaro highway after the driver’s release.

Even this Friday, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and the governor of the State of Mexico, Alfredo Del Mazo, promised to review the case so that justice is done.

Invited to the president’s morning conference, Governor Alejandro del Mazo said he will speak this Friday with the prosecutor of the State of Mexico to know the reasons for the decision and determine a response from the authorities.

On December 24, Omar was driving his Mini Cooper, allegedly drunk, and ran over a tamale vendor who was traveling on Avenida Morelos, corner of Torre Omega Street in Santa María Las Torres, Cuautitlán Izcalli, State of Mexico.
The driver of the vehicle did not stop to help the victim, so personnel assigned to the Prosecutor’s Office of the State of Mexico and municipal police pursued Omar and managed to arrest him.
