Thunderstorms: Preventive Early Warning declared for 10 communes of the Metropolitan Region

According to the information provided by the Meteorological Directorate of Chile (DMC), the probable development of thunderstorms is forecast from the afternoon of this Thursday until the night of Saturday, January 7 in mountain sectors of the Metropolitan Region. Additionally, weak rainfall will be recorded during the 3 days in the mountain range.
In consideration of this meteorological antecedent, the Regional Directorate of Senapred Metropolitana (former Onemi) declares Preventive Early Warning for the communes of Colina, Vitacura, Las Condes, La Reina, Lo Barnechea, Peñalolén, La Florida, Puente Alto, San José de Maipo and Pirque, for thunderstorms, effective as of today and until the conditions so warrant.
“The declaration of this alert is constituted as a state of reinforcement of surveillance, through the precise and rigorous monitoring of the risk conditions and the respective vulnerabilities associated with the threat, coordinating and activating the National System for Disaster Prevention and Response (Sinapred) in order to act in a timely manner in the face of possible emergency situations.”
Senapred recommends that the population avoid proximity to machinery, fences or metal fences, fences and power and/or telephone lines; and do not use radio equipment, GPS devices, landlines or mobile phones during the storm.
