Guillermo Teillier on forest fires: “Everyone, without ideological or political borders, must give our contribution”

The president of the Communist Party (PC), Guillermo Teillier, is hospitalized at the Clinical Hospital of the University of Chile. Through an open letter to his party, Teillier referred to his current health situation, the forest fires and the division of the ruling party into two lists for the elections of Constitutional Councilors.
Regarding his health, Teillier said that “it is a concern with real basis, as stated in the statement of the J. J. Aguirre Clinical Hospital of the University of Chile, where I am again hospitalized. But I am calm, confident in the professionalism, ability and concern of the doctors and people of various specialties who make the efforts for my recovery.”
“I sincerely tell you that it helps a lot to my mood and tranquility the hundreds and I believe, thousands of messages of affection, trust, friendship wishes for recovery that come from all over Chile and also from abroad, including diplomatic representations. ‘ You taught me to light goodness, like a fire,'” he added.
Regarding the forest fires, he said “expressing my solidarity with the relatives of the people killed in the fires and wishing a speedy recovery to those who are injured, is the wish of our party. The social, material and ecological damage is very great.”
He also referred to President Gabriel Boric: “I am sure that our President, Gabriel Boric, will continue to establish concrete measures to quell the fires and immediately begin the necessary help. All of us, without ideological or political boundaries, must be willing to give our contribution. And I believe, in the imperative need to determine if there are incendiary agents, but more importantly, to legislate to end the irrationality of continuing, as we are, in the forms of agricultural production or the development of housing in cities, in the face of climate change, if it is not soon, we will have worse losses to regret. ”
To this are added his words regarding the separation of the ruling party into two lists for the election of Constitutional Councilors. Specifically, the Socialist Party plus Approve Dignity will go on one list and the PPD, PR and DC on another.
“I also allow myself a reference to the political event of the week, the registration of lists for the election of Constitutional Councilors. It is a transcendent step to have achieved the “Unity for Chile” pact, whose parties I greet, because it gives more stability to the government. Much still needs to be done. My hope is that by competing governing parties in two lists, the legislative capacity will not be weakened in the face of the ongoing reforms, of such capital importance, which should be a compromise,” he said.
He added that “in this election, it is up to the candidates of our party to make a great effort and it is up to our militants to support them with everything and our government authorities, buildings, cores, parliamentarians, support them with everything that the law allows.”
He also highlighted the candidate of the PC of the Metropolitan Region: “Karen Araya Rojas, professor of fruitful teaching, labor and union career; Knowledgeable about the precarious life of an important part of workers, children, women and the elderly. A fighting woman, convinced that a new Constitution for Chile must advance in perfecting the rights of people for a dignified life.”
“And I hope, in any case, to contribute to the support of our candidacies and the pact “Unity for Chile”, with all the desire, I will do it. A big hug. A thousand times we will win,” he concluded.
