The governor of the province of Buenos Aires, Axel Kicillof, presented the electronic prescription that can be used from this month in Buenos Aires pharmacies and that will allow the population to acquire their medicines through a prescription issued by a professional via mobile phone or email. The Ministry of Health reported that it is a “practical, agile and safe tool that will improve care and expand rights for the people of Buenos Aires, regardless of the coverage they have (social, prepaid or exclusive public work).” The State, as the main interested in ordering the system, makes available a tool that will be available to all professionals and all pharmacies regardless of the subsystem to which they belong, “said the portfolio and indicated that from today professionals will be able to register at the registration points enabled throughout the province with their ID and registration, published here. Kicillof, together with the Minister of Health, Nicolás Kreplak and other officials of the Buenos Aires Cabinet, formalized today the implementation of the electronic prescription during a ceremony at the Government House of La Plata, attended by representatives of the Medical and Pharmaceutical College of the province of Buenos Aires. “We are announcing a change of era in health; this was necessary because in the pandemic there was an advance towards digitalization and remoteness, but in a precarious way and absolutely lacking the necessary security mechanisms for information as sensitive and vital as health”, analyzed Kicillof. He stressed that the new tool “was achieved in record time” and, with this new system, “the old vulnerable mechanism is replaced by a safer one”: “It is a real feat to have done this in such a short time, and what has been achieved is to replace that system through WhatsApp or messages that had vulnerability with another that has the highest standards of security and performance,” he said. As of February 28, the people of Buenos Aires will be able to receive the prescription written by a professional on their cell phone or email to be able to present it at any pharmacy in the province of Buenos Aires and acquire their medicines, regardless of the coverage they have (prepaid or inclusive public social work). The new tool will have no cost for the professional and can be made on any computer or cell phone.
