Monitoring plan activated for soot spill on the coast of Viña del Mar

Sampling and aerial supervision with drone are part of the measures that the Municipality of Viña del Mar activated this morning before the soot spill that was visualized on the coastal edge at the height of the Recreo sector.
To directly monitor the situation, Mayor Macarena Ripamonti embarked with Navy personnel, specifying that “in the face of complaints of spots in the sea, we set out, with municipal workers and in coordination with the Navy and with the Maritime Governor, Javier Mardones, to take samples, make a tour and also prevent the arrival of these spots to the coastal edge. ”
The communal chief reported that a municipal team was also prepared for the eventuality of having to clean them up if they reach the coast, “in addition to identifying the source of the pollution and pursuing those who have been responsible through a criminal complaint,” she said.

Disaster Risk Department Management
The director of the Department of Disaster Risk Management, Alex Barrientos, indicated that the municipality viñamarino has adopted concrete measures to protect the safety of neighbors, such as the closure of the estuary barrier.
“As the Department of Disaster Risk Management we have had our drone to be able to monitor the area, regarding the progress of the pollution that has occurred. We are all available so that this situation does not reach greater and that it does not end up affecting the local flora and fauna, “he said.
