“Argentina, 1985” will have a free screening in more than 800 locations in the country

Within the framework of the National Day of Memory for Truth and Justice and the various activities in commemoration of the 40 years of Democracy in our country, Santiago Mitre’s film will be screened in the Bicentennial Houses, in the INCAA Spaces and in the Digital Points in commemoration of the #24M. The film will be presented this Friday, March 24 in more than 800 locations throughout the country, with free admission. This screening is the first activity of the Cinema and Democracy cycle, the product of a cooperation agreement recently signed between the National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts (INCAA) and the Honorable Chamber of Deputies of the Nation, which aims to promote national cinematographic activity that stages democratic values. The feature film, which recently competed for the Oscar Awards for Best International Film, was chosen for the occasion because of the historical importance of its theme, which revolves around the restoration of democracy in our country and the Trial of the Juntas of the last civic-military dictatorship. It focuses on the figures of prosecutors Julio César Strassera and Luis Moreno Ocampo, played by Ricardo Darín and Peter Lanzani, respectively. Argentina, 1985 was the most watched national film in 2022 and received a large number of awards and recognitions, among which are the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film, the Goya Award for Best Ibero-American Film, the Satellite Award for Best Foreign Language Film and the Audience Award at the San Sebastian International Film Festival. among others.
