Chocobar spoke and assured that “he would proceed in the same way again”

Two years after being sentenced to two and a half years in suspended prison and five years of disqualification from operational functions, Luís Oscar Chocobar spoke about what his life is like today and how he faces the judicial case. In dialogue with Clarín, in relation to what happened that December 8, 2017, he made it clear that “I sleep well, I live quietly, without ghosts and I do not regret what I did. What’s more, I would go back to doing things the way I did them at the time. That morning I was going to take a bus to go to work, I went out, I found a crime and I proceeded as the law requires.” In addition, he recalled his version of the event and added: “After shouting ‘stop, police’, I fired deterrent shots. One of the people he was chasing had a knife and the lives of others in that place were in danger. I used the firearm because others were in danger of life. I did what I had to do, it wasn’t trigger-happy. I would proceed the same way again.” On the other hand, regarding the judicial case, he explained that “as the sentence was suspended, I continue to be part of the force, I was never disaffected or disqualified. I work in police station, patrullo and porto armas. I have to wait for Cassation to be issued, which is a guarantor and would surely increase the penalty. In that case, with my lawyer Fernando Soto we will appeal and go to the Supreme Court, which would happen in five or six years.” He also said that he graduated as a nurse and that he is in the second year of law school at a private university because he seeks to “help future Chocobars. I didn’t have anyone of the strength to give me a hand, I want to be the first.” Finally, he added that he is working in the law firm of his lawyer who is also responsible for paying for his studies at the UMSA (University of the Argentine Social Museum).
