The trial of the two teenagers accused of the murder of Andrés Blaquier begins

Two 17-year-old teenagers will face trial starting tomorrow for their alleged involvement in the murder of businessman Andrés Blaquier, who was killed during an attempted robbery on October 29 last year. The accused, whose identities are kept confidential due to their age, will be tried by the Court of Juvenile Criminal Responsibility 1 of the Judicial Department of San Isidro.The crime occurred on the Pan-American Highway, in the Buenos Aires district of Pilar, when Blaquier was riding his BMW 1200 motorcycle with his partner, Magdalena De Elordy. According to judicial sources, two criminals aboard a Kawasaki Z400 motorcycle intercepted the couple and shot him in the chest with a 9-millimeter caliber pistol. As a result, the businessman fell from the motorcycle and died in hospital due to serious injuries. The teens face charges of “aggravated robbery by the use of a firearm and resulting in serious injury, in real competition with triple-aggravated homicide for being ‘criminis causa’, for treachery and for having been committed with a firearm” to the detriment of Blaquier and his partner. If they are found guilty, a caesura trial will be held to determine the appropriate penalty. Prosecutor Paula Romeo will represent the Public Ministry in the case, while the victim’s family will be represented by lawyer Ramiro Salaber, who assures that there is strong evidence against the accused. “The one who shot Blaquier fell when he was fleeing on the stolen motorcycle and hit a flower. Investigators later found that he had gone to attend a hospital. Also, in some images, he was not wearing a helmet and you can identify him quite well,” he said. Among the evidence presented in the trial is an anthroposcopometry study carried out by the Scientific Police of the City, which compared the physiognomy of the accused with the images of the security cameras, finding physical correspondences with one of the alleged murderers. In addition, there will be eyewitness testimony, analysis of the Kawasaki motorcycle and forensic extraction of data from phones seized in the investigation.
