Juan Carlos Barragán proposes to punish computer crime with jail

Morelia, Michoacán.- Computer crimes are the order of the day, on several occasions the victims of this type of crime do not know what cybercriminals are and how they operate, generating severe effects on the general population, they reported in a statement.
Computer crimes are those scams that use the network, to carry out fraud, theft and among others, people who perform this type of crime, take advantage of the ignorance or little care that people have when using online services, becoming an easy target.
Therefore, Deputy Juan Carlos Barragán Vélez, proposes to create and punish computer crimes with jail, the sanction could be from six months to 15 years, depending on the patrimonial damage caused.
According to the computer security company McAfee, it is estimated that worldwide losses due to cybercrime ranged from 1 trillion dollars, resulting from fraud, identity theft and the loss of intellectual property.
In the case of Mexico, Lenovo reported in August of this year 2023 that Mexico receives 23 percent of all cyberattacks registered in Latin America, this positions it as the second country in the region with the highest volume of hacking; To measure the number of cyberattacks, only during the first half of 2022, 85,000 million were registered.
The offence shall be committed by anyone who discloses, discloses or misuses or to the detriment of another, information, conversations or text messages, images or voice files, obtained through mechanisms other than the intervention of private communication, through the use of fixed or mobile electronic devices or devices or through identity theft, in order to defraud, obtain money, goods or information.
