With firm commitment, Lupita Díaz Chagolla will ensure compliance with the law and the well-being of children in Michoacán.

Morelia, Michoacán.- With the aim of enforcing the law and thus achieving the well-being of children and adolescents in Michoacán, Deputy Lupita Díaz Chagolla, member of the Commission for the Protection of Children and Adolescents of the LXXV Legislature of the State Congress, questioned the head of the State Secretariat of Education (SEE) in the meeting that took place in Congress in recent days, Gabriela Molina Aguilar, on the installation of anonymous mailboxes against school violence, which must be installed in all educational establishments physically, as established by law.
On May 24, the Plenary approved the reforms to the Law for the Attention to School Violence in the State of Michoacán, to combat school violence through a prevention tool, which consists of the installation of mailboxes for the reception of complaints, with the aim that girls, Children and adolescents, who out of fear do not want to talk to their parents or teachers, can report any act of violence they are suffering using these mailboxes.
In response to the question, Molina Aguilar said that complaints have been received through the digital mailboxes of the Comptroller’s Office platform and reported that they have received around eight complaints per month, which is why they see it as more feasible to do it virtually.
In this sense, the legislator considered that this alternative is not enough, since most parents, as well as children, do not know how to report on digital platforms, other times they do not have access to the internet and mobile devices to access it.
The head of the SEE was unaware of these reforms to the law. However, he said the following: “we are going to address the issue of mailboxes, we are going to put the mailbox, if it is important, we are going to make it visible, we do not yet have the budget, but it is worth it and the victims must be provided with all the digital tools and materials, so we have already taken note.”
For this reason, Lupita Díaz Chagolla affirmed her commitment to continue to be aware of the responsible authorities so that they comply with the provisions of the law and generate more tools to protect the children and adolescents of Michoacán.
