By Cristian H. PalombaThe Riders’ show took off around nine o’clock at night and it was a three-hour journey through long passages, in which it seemed that the instruments were going to fall apart. They played great songs from their first album, “This Is What You Get When You Get Tired Of What You’ve Already Gotten” (2022), as well as “Dopamine” or “Anton” and also from his recent “The Sound of Ecstasy” (2023), as “A.P.T (American Pro Trucker)” or “Stronger Than the Sun”.
The public also stepped on the accelerator and retaliation came from below. A painting that seemed to be taken from another era was formed, with pogos to the punches, people from the top up mosh to the stage and screams of madness. The result is a Niceto Club that captivates even newcomers. In the air you feel that yes, “here was the thing”: people don’t get so wild with all the artists. Why with Winona? The formula is the complete opposite of the mainstream scene: songs of more than eight minutes, instrumental trances, riffs and loaded drums. Guitarists and vocalists Ricky Morales and Ariel Nigrelli are joined by Gabriel Carabajal on percussion, Francisco Cirillo on drums, Santiago Vidiri on bass and Mauro Arenas on keyboard and synthesizers. Together they propose a lysergic race to escape the norm and seem to say “see you on the other side”. @filonews The band was formed in 2018 between Haedo, Ramos Mejía and Ituzaingó. They’ve already opened for their biggest influence, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, and they’ve already had the incident that transformed them into an underground phenomenon. In March, they scheduled a recital at Niceto Bar, the smallest room at Niceto Club, which is across the street and has a capacity of 100 people. Two hours earlier, the call tripled this number. The corner was completely collapsed and traffic was cut off. People who couldn’t get in hung from the windows of the place just to see them. That’s when the police, the bard, and rock and roll came along. Meanwhile, the Riders were a flame on stage. Something had changed. Nine months later and across the street, Winona Riders makes approximately a thousand people vibrate, in a forceful show with consecrating vibes. And that also augurs a 2024 with venues that are small.By Cristian H. Palomba
