Alert for storms and possible hail in Buenos Aires and other provinces

A weekend closure with adverse weather is expected in several areas of the country, so the National Meteorological Service (SMN) maintains alerts for strong storms with possible hail for this Sunday, June 9. The current yellow alert applies to the center, coast and southwest of the province of Buenos Aires, east of La Pampa and east of Rio Negro.De according to the SMN report, “the area will be affected by storms, some locally strong. They may be accompanied by intense gusts, strong electrical activity, occasional hail and mainly abundant water fall in short periods.” In addition, accumulated precipitation values are estimated between 30 and 60mm, which may be exceeded in a timely manner. In this context, the agency gave a series of recommendations for strong storms: Do not take out the garbage and remove objects that prevent water from draining; avoid outdoor activities; do not take shelter near trees and electricity poles that may fall; to minimize the risk of being struck by lightning, do not stay on beaches, rivers, lagoons or pools; be attentive to the possible fall of hail; to be informed by the authorities; and always have an emergency backpack ready with a flashlight, radio, documents and telephone.
