Sabag Montiel in the trial for the attack against CFK: “I wanted to kill her and Brenda wanted her to die”

As part of the beginning of the oral trial against Fernando Sabag Montiel, Brenda Uliarte and Nicolás Carrizo for the assassination attempt against the then Vice President, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, the defendants began to testify. Among the statements of Sabag Montiel, who at first showed himself with a sign that said “they have kidnapped me”, he explained his motivations to carry out the act: “I am apolitical, the incentive for which I committed the attack is not because I have a position at the antipodes of Kirchnerism. It was for a personal purpose and not to benefit any political sector,” and added that “Dr. Kirchner is corrupt, steals and harms society.” Then, he went on to point out that “with Brenda (Uliarte) we never shared the decision to perpetrate the attack. I wanted to kill CFK and Brenda wanted her to die. But I never asked him or ordered him to do it, nor did I give him the weapon saying ‘do it yourself’. She wanted to be a spectator of the moment rather than a participant.” On the day of the attack I pointed it at his face. I fired once, not twice, and I did not reload the gun again because I was intercepted,” said the subject who fired against the former president. He also made it clear that the attack was “an act of justice, I did not try to favor myself financially. It has a deeper connotation and more committed to the social good than anything else.” The beginning of the judicial processIt was scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. in the AMIA room, but it began after 10 a.m., when judges Sabrina Namer, Adrián Grünberg and Ignacio Fornari indicated to the defendants the charges they face so that they can give an investigative statement. As indicated, Sabag Montiel is accused of “doubly qualified homicide by malice and the premeditated concurrence of two or more people, aggravated by the use of a firearm” in the degree of author, the same for Uliarte but as a co-author and, finally, Carrizo is pointed out as a secondary participant. It is worth noting that the hearings, which will be held for several months once a week, are expected to involve more than 250 witnesses, including political figures, security personnel, people close to the accused, forensic experts, intelligence analysts and eyewitnesses. In fact, Cristina Kirchner is expected to testify after the winter judicial recess.
