Pedro Brieger publicly apologized after sexual harassment allegations

This Friday, journalist Pedro Brieger recorded a video that he published from his social networks to offer his apologies for his acts of sexual harassment. Let us remember that the journalist was denounced by 19 female colleagues ten days ago at a press conference of the group Periodistas Argentinas. I want to tell you that I listened to the message of Periodistas Argentinas and quickly let them know my desire to make the apologies public. That is why, first of all, I want to apologize,” Brieger begins in his defense. And he added: “I know I hurt a lot of people. I apologize to each of them for my inappropriate attitudes. I take responsibility, I repent and I make my apologies public“, he acknowledged in an 80-second video. He also said that after prolonged treatment he managed to stop having “disrespectful behaviors,” after a “break in his life” and assured that today he is “another person.” You may be interested in: “Argentine journalists denounced Pedro Brieger for 19 cases of sexual harassment””Many years ago there was a break in my life and I stopped having behaviors that were not respectful. Thanks to prolonged therapeutic treatment, I was able to overcome it and today I am a different person. The one they describe existed, but it has not existed for a long time. For this reason, those who work with me today in various fields were astonished to learn of improper acts on my part in the past,” he said. He then made himself available to the complainants and organizations to try to help in the way they consider appropriate, with the aim that this type of acts do not occur again.” “I hope you can accept my apology,” Reiterated. To conclude, he warned: “Since I have not been that person for a long time, I believe that my testimony today can also serve to break the pacts that exist between men to cover up our behavior, inside and outside journalism. I am willing to collaborate to make it so. I reiterate: I ask forgiveness from those I offended and affected.”, the journalist concluded. At the beginning of the month, the @periodistasargentinas_ group held a press conference to present 19 complaints of sexual harassment of the Argentine journalist and sociologist over three decades in the workplace and education.
