Europe is the only continent where COVID-19 infections and deaths continue to rise

On Wednesday, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced that, today, Europe is the only continent in the world where INFECTIONS AND DEATHS FROM COVID-19 continue to increase. And, according to the entity, in the last week Europe reported a 5% increase in deaths from coronavirus, while in the rest of the continents the figures remained stable or decreased: in America they fell by 3%, in the Western Pacific region by 5% and in the Eastern Mediterranean by 14%.

Meanwhile, in South and East Asia (which also includes India, one of the countries most affected by COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic) deaths increased by 1%, and 3% in Africa.Regarding infections, the total number rose to 252 million in 23 months since the virus began circulating in China and increased by 6% globally. By region, the increase was 8% in Europe and the Americas, while there were 33% fewer cases reported from Africa.Compared to Europe, the incidence of cases per 100,000 inhabitants was much higher (230) than in any other region. In America it was 74 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
