Blackouts, falling trees and street closures in Culiacán due to rain

Sinaloa.- The heavy rain that fell surprisingly during the night of Wednesday, June 22 in Culiacán, caused blackouts in a large number of sectors. Some of the streets of the city in a few minutes turned into dangerous streams. The strong winds caused the fall of trees in various sectors and also caused fear in residents of Valle Alto. It was shortly before 9:00 p.m. when black clouds covered the sky and there were strong winds. The joy of some people for the rains turned into anger when blackouts began to be recorded, the light going away for several minutes and even for hours in some sectors. Concern Some citizens began to denounce that in the Regional General Hospital number 1 of the Issste there was no light in the neonatal area and that the internal floor of the hospital had failed, so there were patients at risk if the electricity did not reach immediately. This media outlet went to the hospital, realizing that the building was dark. It was almost two hours later when Civil Protection elements arrived at the machinery area and put the light plants to work. In the place it could be seen that a lot of rainwater had entered. Workers said there were leaks in some areas and feared an accident would occur. During the heavy rain, municipal police and traffic elements took to the streets to provide their service. In order to avoid accidents they closed the Arjona tunnel in both directions due to the water that accumulated inside. They went to Madero and Alejandro Quijano in support of the road through a tree that fell and affected the circulation. They also removed two other fallen trees, the first from Xicoténcatl and Doctor Mora boulevard, in las Quintas, and the second on Álvaro Obregón Avenue, before the bridge to La Primavera.In Doctor Mora and Xicoténcatl it was necessary to tow a unit that was stranded at the junction due to mechanical failures during the rain. In several sectors, cars were stranded. The rains left a great annoyance against the CFE and the memes flooded the networks. Many voices were raised to demand better service. Among the sectors in which blackouts were reported were El Rincón del Valle, Barrancos, Colonia Pemex, San Rafael, Los Lirios, El Palmito, Cucas, Mezcales, Ciruelos, Lombardo Toledano, El Centro, 21 de Marzo, Chapultepec, among others.
