San Luis Potosí resumes mandatory use of face masks due to COVID

The Ministry of Health of San Luis Potosí announced that due to the increase in COVID-19 cases, the mandatory use of face masks will again be implemented as of this December 26.
“With the aim of reducing the spread of COVID, influenza and other acute respiratory infections, as of today and as a temporary measure, the decision has been made that the use of face masks is again mandatory throughout the state of San Luis Potosí, anytime and anywhere,” Daniel Acosta Díaz de León said at a press conference. Secretary of Health of the entity.
According to the official, until the cut of this December 26, there are 154 new cases, most of them in the capital and metropolitan area. In total, San Luis Potosí has a record of 238,354 cases.

The increase in cases has been recorded in the last five days.
Regarding other measures, the official reported that there will be no restrictions on capacity in shopping centers and cinemas, hotels, restaurants, temples and mass gathering events, so as not to affect economic activities.
San Luis Potosí is not the only entity that again implemented the mandatory mask, because on December 19, the government of Puebla announced this measure.

Sergio Salomón Céspedes, interim governor of the state, acknowledged this morning at a press conference that “Puebla is no exception” and has also had a rise in infections. Therefore, his administration drafted a decree with actions to prevent more cases.
In Nuevo León, the mandatory use of face masks was also announced.
