Russia criticized Milei’s message of support for Ukraine

After Argentine President Javier Milei’s message of support for Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky at the Summit for Peace in Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin criticized the Argentine government’s position and described the possible shipment of weapons as a “hostile act”. With a marked turn in foreign relations and international politics, the president demonstrated his immutable position since his inauguration, in which both the presence of allies and the absence of important figures at the global level were conspicuous. From his place, Milei carried out different symbolic acts in recent months, from trips to meetings with political leaders. In a recent speech, the president expressed his support for Ukraine in the war against Russia, a situation that did not go unnoticed by the Russian president. “The information about the possible shipment of Argentine tanks through Germany, similar to the agreement of the planes with France, is also worrying. We have clearly and firmly communicated to Argentina that such actions will be considered hostile actions against Russia,” said the ambassador in Buenos Aires, Dmitry Feoktistov.Feoktistov then warned the country to refrain from participating in the war with the aim of “preserving the friendly nature of Russian-Argentine relations, which have historically been immune to political tendencies.” The ambassador also spoke about the attendance of Argentine Defense Minister Luis Petri at the meeting of the Contact Group for the Defense of Ukraine in Brussels. “As for the participation of Luis Petri, in the Brussels meeting, within the framework of the Ramstein coalition, there are still no official comments from the Argentine side. The true fact of the rapprochement between Buenos Aires and the military patrons of Ukraine causes us deep disappointment,” he said. Finally, Feoktistov questioned the Argentine government’s decision to move closer to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). “In April, Argentina applied for the status of global partner of the alliance. Frankly, we do not understand how granting this status can improve Argentina’s security,” he added.
