The leader died Sunday at the age of 97 and without fulfilling its goal to reunite with her granddaughter, Clara Anahí, kidnapped when he was a baby during an operation at the hands of a task force led by the repressor Miguel Etchecolatz.
In 1977, Mariani and Alicia Zubasnabar Licha on the block decided to create an organization of grandmothers in search of their missing grandchildren.
In 1996, Mariani founded also the Anahi Association, a body that promotes, supports and defends the full observance of human rights.
“We said goodbye with enormous sadness who was companion of Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo and current President of the Foundation Clara Anahí. A fundamental woman at the beginning of the search for the boys and girls appropriate by State terrorism and a symbol of the struggle for human rights.
