the British Times Higher Education Magazine, specialized topics related to higher education, published the Ranking of universities in Latin America 2018 (Latin America University Rankings), in which are three Mexican universities among the best in the region: the Institute of technology and superior studies of Monterrey; the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), and the Autonomous Metropolitan University (UAM).
Tec de Monterrey appears in fifth place at the level of Latin America; UNAM ranks the site 13 and UAM number 26. The ranking is composed of little more than a thousand 200 institutions of higher level.
Other Mexican universities that appear on the list are: the National Polytechnic Institute (40 place); the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (place 53), and the Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (place 61).
The Times Higher Education performs this measurement based on the criteria of the classification world universities (World University Rankings) that measures the level of programs of research, teaching and knowledge. In addition, 13 performance indicators supported the opinions of students, professors, University leaders, and the Government of more than 86 countries are used.
National ranking placed first at the Tec de Monterrey; followed by the UNAM; the Autonomous University of Querétaro (UAQ); and the Autonoma Metropolitana (UAM).
It highlights the case of the Tec de Monterrey, which for the second consecutive year exceeded the maximum House of studies and was placed in the top 5 of Latin America. For its part the UAM appears among the top 30 in the region and as the fourth in Mexico.
UNAM fell three places in this renking in relation to 2017, which appeared in the place number 10.   
The best University in Latin America, according to Times Higher Education, is the State University of Campinas, Brazil; the second place goes to the University of São Paulo, also of Brazil; in third place is the Pontifical University of Chile, and in the fourth the Federal University of São Paulo.
After Brazil and Chile, Mexico is the country with more universities among the best positioned 30.
