Dublin, Ireland-from assistance by video to the arbitration (VAR) will be used from the second round in the Champions League in February 2019 and also at the end of the Europe Leag EU, confirmed Monday the UEFA. The governing body of European football had already announced its intention to use the VAR in the next edition of the champions ‘League’, in the 2019 season / 2020.
“If we can do it earlier, why not?”, said the President of UEFA, Aleksander Ceferin, at a press conference after an Executive Council in Dublin.
We are ready to use the VAR ahead of schedule and are convinced that will be good for our competitions, since it will provide an aid to our referees and will reduce the number of erroneous decisions,”added the leader.
The UEFA President, Aleksander Ceferin during the Conference of press/AFP VAR is already used in most of the major leagues of Europe, such as Spain, Germany, Italy and France.
UEFA also confirmed Monday their use for the final of the Europa League and the final phase of the League of Nations, whose semi-final clash to Portugal against Switzerland and Holland beat England.
