has 33 years and this past Saturday won his first fight as a professional Boxer.
He did it by beating the Mexican Hugo Aguilar by unanimous decision, but the most outstanding is that he did it as a man.
It is the case of Manuel Patricio, who became the first pugilist transgender to win a professional fight in United States.
“I am now a professional Boxer,” he said in the ring after his victory is confirmed.
“I would not change anything. “It was worth it all for what I’ve been up to this point”.
Six years ago injury prevented that Manuel could form part of the team of American female boxing who took part in the London 2012 Olympics, the first opened the ring to the women.
But the end of his Olympic dream marked the beginning of its transformation from woman to man.
After an operation and months of hormone treatment he returned to workouts in order to resume his career, something that could do after the International Olympic Committee decided in 2016 athletes transgender have gone from woman to man could compete without restrictions.
“Not am here for a solo show, for a fight,” said Manuel.
“This is something that I love and I have not yet finished in this sport. I’ll be back”.
