From this Monday the ticket will be free for people over 70 years old. It is a program known as “friendly cities” that was ratified by the Secretary of Public services and by the Directorate of Care for Older adults. The benefit will be for those who meet these requirements: to be more than 70 years old, to present the DNI, a photo and a Red Bus card. Interested parties must attend the bus terminal or the line controls.
The Minister of Health, Social development and sports, Elisabeth Crescitelli, said that “together with the growth of cities there is an increase in older adults and that is why we must plan to facilitate their accessibility.” For the World Health Organization, the “elderly-friendly Cities” programme defines an inclusive and accessible urban environment that fosters the active ageing of older people through participation, improved health conditions and The increase of the security of the environments, in order to increase their quality of life in particular and, consequently, of all the citizenship.
