Garrahan Hospital on Friday warned of a significant increase in circulation of Influenza A H1N1, a producer of influenza A, which affects children and adults. The hospital’s Molecular Virology Unit detected a sharp increase from last year of H1N1 cases.
As the hospital reported, “this year’s epidemiological situation of respiratory diseases shares the behavior of historical seasonal respiratory infections and more closely resembles what happened in 2017.”
In Argentina the highest incidence would occur between week 26 and 30, with the highest number of bronchiolitis in children under 2 years of age and pneumonia. “This is highly relevant, considering the change from the year before the same period, where the percentage of Influenza H1N1 dialed infinitely lower numbers,” said Andrea Mangano, head of the Molecular Virology Unit of Garrahan.Las Low Acute Respiratory Infections (RHAB) are the leading cause of hospitalism in children under 2 years of age during the cold season.
